TOXIC PEOPLE
So I decided to set up a blog under the assumption that all the things I had to say would just gush out. We will see. The reason that this blog is called Toxic People is because I look around and that's all I see.
Yesterday, I was walking past a Starbucks...
If you live in a city like me (Chicago), you only have to walk about a block before one of these horribly offensive businesses confronts you. Yes, granted, they are all different. They are all unique. But the two things they all do have in common are the fact that they have duped the American public into believing that they need to shop for their $10.00 GRANDE FIX in the lair of these consumer whores daily. And, these places have no soul. (Go to an indy coffee shop for God's sake.) These places where millions of dollars are so easily dropped everyday...they are the black death...essentially.
My personal grievance with the STARWAX corporation will be something I bring up often. Mind me.
So, anyway, as I walked past the this place with its dangling track lighting...I was struck by the row after row, table after table, (this particular STARWAX was pretty large), of what I like to call toxic people.
You know who I'm talking about, they have just recieved their daily, or bi-daily, colonic of frappachino, and they are sitting there perked up with their laptop or their ipod or their stack of research books, but they are zombies. Mummified with perservatives and partially hydrogenated pituitary glands. Going through the motions of life with no hope. Green with disease that blooms like a cancer from just one more Blockbuster video rental or X-Box game. And don't even let me get started on this fast food nation going to hell in a handbasket because of their diets. Please see Supersize Me - it will change your life. (But don't get it from Blockbuster. Find a nice independent dealer or buy it direct.)
But anyway, I was struck by all these people, one right after another. They have to be warned about what they are putting in their body. About how they are treating the temple of God. Why do we like to fill ourselves with so much shit. We are a country that will be completely diseased before long unless we change our ways. So today, if you see a toxic person on the streets. (Or better yet, in a STARWAX) Go in and start a conversation. Ask them out for a date. A drink. Anything. But wake them up. We need to be on a better path to a better way of living. What ever you think about your own mortality is a moot point. Don't screw this up. STOP EATING SHIT! And shop independent stores. Mom and pops - we love you!
We'll talk soon...
